Overview
Define, schedule and monitor browser automation — forms, extraction, multi-step flows and API orchestration. Workflows are defined visually in a React UI rather than written as one-off scripts, so a non-developer can see what a workflow does and when it runs, and a developer can still extend it with custom steps when a site needs special handling.
The problem
Repetitive digital work needed a human: government portals, competitor prices, data from sources without APIs. Someone had to log in, click through the same multi-step forms, and copy the results into a spreadsheet, day after day — simple enough to describe but too fragile for a one-off script, since a portal's layout or a pricing page's structure changes without warning and breaks anything that isn't monitored.
The solution
Node.js + Playwright engine with a React UI, scheduling, error recovery, webhooks and a log viewer. Each workflow is a sequence of browser steps — navigate, fill, click, extract — that Playwright drives against a real headless browser, handling JavaScript-heavy sites a simple HTTP scraper cannot. Redis backs the job queue and scheduling, and the engine runs in Docker. The log viewer records which step a workflow took, what it clicked or filled, and what it extracted, so a failure can be traced to the exact step instead of re-run blind.
Role
Solo developer — design, orchestration engine, workflow builder UI. Owned the full stack: the Playwright execution engine, the job queue, and the React interface for building and monitoring workflows. Also responsible for the scheduling logic that decides when each workflow runs and the webhook layer that notifies other systems on completion or failure.
Result
Hundreds of daily manual tasks automated. Zero-touch after setup. A workflow that used to need someone logging in and clicking through a form now runs on schedule and only surfaces when something actually needs attention.
