WordPress is fine for a publisher. It is a poor warehouse, a poor SaaS, a poor multi-tenant billing engine. Plugins will not save a domain model.
I build custom. If WP is the right tool, I will tell you to keep it and not hire me to fight the dashboard.

Yes: content, URLs, 301s, then Laravel. It is a project, not a weekend.
